Remember that big update that was planned for late January? Due to some technical problems, Microsoft decided to postpone the launch a few weeks, which turned out to be a couple of months.
This release is Microsoft's first major update to its Windows Phone 7 mobile operating system and it includes the highly expected copy / paste feature as well as improved Marketplace search and faster apps and games.
According to a blog post by Eric Hautala, general manager of customer experience engineering at Microsoft, "update will be available for "open market" Windows Phones first, before being rolled out to all users". "Open market", meaning those that are not branded or set up for a particular mobile operator.
Microsoft has also set up a site that helps users see when their devices are likely to be updated. You can check that out here.
