nexus one logoGoogle decided to close down its Nexus One online store in order to promote more Android smartphones. So now the Nexus One, which was being sold by Google online without a contract will only be available at retail stores.

The device was initially being sold in the US, UK, Singapore and Hong Kong, exclusively through Google's online store, but this new sales model did not have the expected results. Not having the hands-on experience you can get in a store, many users decided not to purchase a phone that they might not enjoy.

According to Andy Rubin, Google will stop selling the Nexus One through the online store once retailers have been properly set up for the US market.
