Google is getting ready to introduce the Nexus One Android smartphone to software developers in Hong Kong and Taiwan next week, but will not organize a similar event in Beijing, as developers were expecting.
"If Google did not have such an issue with the Chinese government, they would have conducted a similar event in China too," said a source close to the company.
Back in January, Google threatened China to shut down google.cn, citing censorship problems and a hacking attack from within the country. Shortly after the threat, Google delayed the launch of two Android mobile phones in China.
Analysts have said that a conflict between Google and the Chinese government could hurt Android mobile phone makers that wish to increase their sales in the world's biggest mobile market.
