Official responses have been received on both Google and T-Mobile forums with the following statement:

"Google and T-Mobile are investigating this issue and hope to have more information for you soon. We understand your concern and appreciate your patience."

Kind of a bland statement there, but at least they're looking into it. Let's just hope this is not a hardware issue, so it can be fixed with a software update.
