Opera Mobile 10 Direct-to-Distributor Version for Android Launched

11 Dec 2009 | Android , Smartphone , Software | 1 comment

Opera today released their highly anticipated Opera Mobile 10 browser for Android, but only for manufacturers and carriers. Strange, because Windows Mobile and Symbian/S60 devices already have a public beta of Opera 10 available for download. So what are they waiting for? According to Opera, the new browser "presents limitations that hinder mass consumer distribution", without giving out more info on the subject. Could it be worse than the current Android browser?

Owners of Windows Mobile and Symbian/S60 smartphones can download the Opera Mobile 10 beta at www.opera.com/mobile/.

It's probably the limitations in the Android NDK. Basically Android does not really support C++ applications only Java.
