Nokia N900 Mobile Computer Starts Shipping

nokia n900 frontNokia's newest mobile computer, the Nokia N900 powered by the Maemo 5 open source mobile platform will be hitting retail stores this month for an estimated price of €500 ($750), excluding taxes and subsidies.

The device features a 3.5-inch (800 x 480 pixels) TFT display, 5.0 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens and a smaller 0.3 megapixel camera on the front for video calls. It is powered by a 600 MHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor and it has has 32 GB eMMC and 256 MB NAND non-removable storage. Additional storage of up to 16GB is available through the microSD card slot, bringing the total up to 48GB. Connectivity-wise, the N900 comes equipped with HSPA, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, built-in GPS with A-GPS, FM receiver and transmitter.

Users won't have a shortage of applications either, as Nokia will have a wide range of games, utilities, themes, wallpapers and service plug-ins for photo-sharing and messaging for the handset through Ovi Store and Maemo Select, starting later in the year.

The Nokia N900 will initially be available in Europe, Middle-East, Russia and North America.
