As we expected, Nokia today announced the upcoming launch of the Nokia N97 mini this week. The mini is the smaller version of the original N97 device and it was announced two months ago together with the Nokia X6 and Nokia X3.
The Nokia N97 mini features the same 640 x 360 pixel touchscreen found on the first N97, only 0.3" smaller in size, measuring 3.2". Other features include 8GB of internal memory, microSD card slot, 1200mAh batter (down from 1500), 5.0 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, dual LED flash and a dedicated light for VGA video capture, 3G, 3.5mm headphone jack and A-GPS.
There was no mention of a new price, so expect the N97 mini to cost €450 before taxes.
Nokia also thought this would be a good moment to introduce the N97 software update 2.0, which bring new features such as: 'flip scrolling' in the entire user interface, making scrolling in all views very smooth, shortcuts to personalized homescreen, Ovi Maps 3.0 with 3-D maps,Nokia e-mail (Nokia Messaging), Ovi Contacts and Ovi Store. The Nokia N97 software update 2.0 is available on the Nokia Software Update website.
