BlackBerry Bold 9700 Smartphone for AT&T Announced

blackberry bold 9700 sideResearch in Motion today introduced their newest 3G smartphone, the BlackBerry Bold 9700, which will be heading for AT&T as early as next month.

The Bold 9700 features a 2.44-inch, 480 x 360 pixel resolution light-sensing display, full QWERTY keyboard, touch-sensitive trackpad and a 3.2 megapixel camera with zoom, autofocus, flash and video recording and support for 3G HSDPA networks.

Other hardware features include a 624 MHz processor, 256 MB of memory, microSD/SDHD card slot for support to up to 16GB of extra memory, 2GB included in the box, built-in GPS with the ability to geotag photos, 3.5 mm stereo headset jack and dedicated volume controls.

Running BlackBerry OS 5.0, the device will offer a better browsing experience with faster processing of JavaScript and CSS. Users will also be able to access the BlackBerry App World.

Connectivity-wise, the Bold 9700 is packed with Bluetooth 2.1 with support for Secure Simple Pairing and WiFi with support for Wi-Fi calling via UMA when available.

RIM is getting ready to launch the BlackBerry Bold 9700 for AT&T in November for $199 with a 2-year contract, after a $100 mail-in rebate. A T-Mobile version is also expected to hit stores just in time for the holidays.

list of features looks excellent, but too bad I just got a 9000 recently. oh well...
