amazon wirelessLooks like Amazon is realizing how much money there is in the cell phone market, so it launched a site dedicated to selling and activating phones.

Called AmazonWireless, the site offers users new devices and service plans depending on their needs and location. It's still in beta, so currently there are only 120 phones to chose from and service plans from AT&T and Verizon Wireless with more carrier support coming soon.

The point of AmazonWireless is to make things easier for the customers, which are being guided through each of the steps of the purchase, from selecting a phone, location and customizing the plan. The site is also offering a free two-day shipping on all phones.

"We've taken our eight years' experience selling cell phones to create a new site that makes a potentially confusing transaction much easier for customer. The step-by-step purchase process on AmazonWireless makes it easy for customers who already have a plan to upgrade their phones," said Paul Ryder, VP of consumer electronics for Amazon.
