AT&T to Expand iPhone Exclusivity?

It looks like AT&T is reportedly in talks with Apple to extend its iPhone exclusivity deal, which would allow the carrier to sell the device until 2011. The current agreement is set to expire next year.

This deal was pretty profitable for AT&T so far. They gained millions of new subscribers, who generate more revenue because of the required iPhone data plan. Things could get even better for the carrier if Apple will launch a new iPhone this summer, together with the 3.0 iPhone OS they announced a few months back.

The price for the exclusivity was a big one, though. With the original iPhone, Apple was not only making money selling the units, but also getting a share of AT&T's monthly revenue from each iPhone customer.

Apple declined to comment on the negotiations.
