1.9 million iPhones activated in Q4, says AT&T

According to AT&T, in the fourth quarter of last year, there were 1.9 million iPhone 3G activations, with 40% of the activations representing new customers.

Like many other companies, AT&T also saw a decline in its earnings in the last quarter, reporting a net income of $2.4 billion (41 cents per share), down from $3.1 billion (51 cents per share) from the same time last year.

For 2008, AT&T had a net income of $12.9 billion ($2.16 per share) and a total revenue of $124 billion.
