iTunes App Store hits 500 million downloads

I suppose congratulations are in order. In the month of its 6 month anniversary, Apple's iTunes App Store is celebrating 500 million downloads. It's a great achievement, even though some might argue that most of the downloaded apps are freebies, which is most likely true.
Apple launched the iTunes App Store back in July 2008 with only 500 apps and reached the 100 million download mark just two months later, in September, while the iTunes Music Store took two years to cross 500 million purchases. Now the App Store has over 15,000 apps. Hopefully, Apple will begin adding some tighter restrictions, so we could get better apps. I don't know if I could stand another iBeer version.

Yes, 15,000 apps but most of them suck! It's been 6 months Apple, do something about it! The whole thing is full of lame devs trying to make a buck!
Yep, most are free for a BIG reason, they suckith! It's good fun to find a good one and there are good apps, look around and be patient!!!!! Peace. David L
