Sprint's Samsung Instinct launching on Friday for $129.99

Just days before the official launch of the Instinct, Sprint decided to slash its price from $199 to $129. No reason was given for this price drop, but we could somehow suspect that it has something to do with Apple's new 3G iPhone, which has a starting price of $199. Don't you just love competition?

Let's recap the features of the Samsung Instinct: a 2.0 megapixel camera with camcorder, Visual Voicemail, POP3 email, microSD card slot (up to 8GB) and 2GB microSD card in the box, Bluetooth 2.0 and a full HTML browser.

So if you're planning on an Instinct, go grab it this Friday for $129.99 with a new 2 year contract after a $100 mail-in rebate.

by JAKE on Jun 19, 2008

Sprint actually has different options on plans. but the cheapest one is 69.99 a month which is for unlimited text/data and 450 anytime mins

by Manny on Jun 19, 2008

What is the price without the 2 yr contract?

by Joel on Jun 19, 2008

@manny - It's about $450.

by barb on Jun 19, 2008

can someone please explain the differences between the new apple iphone coming out on jul 11 and the sprint instinct phone
thanks

by Andy on Jun 20, 2008

Although the Samsung Instinct is a hot phone... Like the Iphone the drop price to lure everyone in is obviously a trap.. If I bought the Instinct for example, I will pay about $130, not to mention the monthly cost of $70... Make it close to $80 with tax.. Now, if I finish my two years contract, I'll be paying almost $2,000 on phone bills.. Isn't that insane!!!

by Orson on Jun 20, 2008

I don't care much about the phone's prices since the monthly bills is a ripoff!! Why pay a few hundred dollars lesser on a one time phone cost, but pay a thousand dollars more on the two year contract? Not to mention only $450 minutes!!! RIP-OFFF!!!!!

by Mike on Jun 20, 2008

Stop Hating! You ain't getting a cheaper plan all cell phone comp. have to get paid. And they are goin to take it from you one way or another. my brother has the I phone and he pays about $60 a month.

by Syed Shariq on Jun 20, 2008

can any one know, in UAE from where I can purchase it and how much price.

by Akex on Jun 21, 2008

lol, ahhahahhaha OMG, really? This is so bunk. It's such a copy of the iphone it's sad. But the biggest problem is that only the shell looks the same. The sprint phone just doesn't have the software to back it up. the iPhone runs OSX.

by jealous on Jun 22, 2008

dis phone looks gud but i want it wit Verizon contract

by banc on Jun 22, 2008

the phone looks 10 times better than iphone functioning cant be much crapier .. so i must get one =)

by louie on Jun 22, 2008

compare this to the LG Vu.

by Vaganza on Jun 23, 2008

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, everyone is coming out with a touch screen phone, but remember, there is a HUGE difference between a touch screen and Apple's Multi-touch screen.

What I don't get is with this new abundance of touch screen phones coming...why do they all have to LOOK like an iPhone? It isn't required to be black with a chrome edge to be a touch phone.

by Michelle on Jun 23, 2008

This phone is so much better than the iphone- I just got it and its so much faster. go to sprint.com and watch the difference between iphone and this. this phone even offers certain things that the iphone just can't.

by mike on Jun 23, 2008

they would copy the design of an iphone iphone is better all the way go AT&T

by Rit on Jun 25, 2008

Hey, guys. Just picked the phone up yesterday from bestbuy for 129.99 with a 2 year contract. It's a hot phone. Love it. Have a family plan where all my 5 phones can get the Talk/Message/Data Share with 1500 anytime minutes for $129.99. Great phone.

by Rachel on Jun 27, 2008

by Nikko on Jul 1, 2008

Its rediculously stupid to get the instinct...sure its a great phone but are you really going to let them own you like that? DUMB

by hollie george on Jul 4, 2008

Research indicates that instinct is a better phone

by jesas on Jul 11, 2008

i just wantto know why your all so fucking retarted!!!!! Um... hello. If you can afford the $70.00 a month just save up for like 4 months and then buy it. They are ripping you off!! I'm buying it for $499.00 or watever it is. All well, it's your loss!

by maddiee on Jul 20, 2008

how much is it outright??
with out going on a plan!!
wat date does it come outright??

by betty on Jul 22, 2008

i don't care what you guys say i think that the instinct is a great phone and i think it's better than the i phone so i'ma get it. the instinct as way more things than the iphone. people who get the iphone can't pay a sprint bill that the only reason why they don't like the instinct. if you could pay the bill that sprint gives you, you wouldn't have a problem buying the instinct. so there haterrrs!!!!!!!!!!!

by ant on Jul 23, 2008

Obviously sprint customers are broke thats why your with a third excuse me 4th rate service provider my bill for iPhone is $99 a month
because I can afford to have more bars in more places the iPhone is for grown people save all the cute lil extras for the kiddos thanks AT&T

by AWOL wftx 76301 on Jul 23, 2008

yeah I agree sounds like ant got it right a man after my own heart if you gotta ask then you probably can't afford it the iPhone Is a big boi
phone I've been with sprint there service stinks when I got my iPhone I was happy if you can afford $99-150 a month. I hear what people are saying about the instinct I personally dont even use the features on my iPhone that much but I'm glad I have them believe me sprint will never compete with AT&T or Verizon so deal with It loosers!!!

by Sarah on Jul 25, 2008

Is this phone even out yet?

by Aida on Aug 4, 2008

After reading everyone else's comments about the iphone
and the Instinct, I think each phone has its pros and cons and it just depends on what features are more important for each individual. I would like to own both
and the decide which is really better. I think, though that the Instinct has more features.

by Tra on Aug 4, 2008

im going to get it so i dont care what none ya retards say its our money so mind yo own biz punks,if u got som to say make shure u get a hold of me dont punk out

by aida on Aug 7, 2008

I bought the Instinct and I know it is a really great
phone. Love the features esp. the GPS...and a lot more..
and fast. It is also user-friendly!!!
I have ordered the iphone before I got the Instinct....
I think I will stay with my INSTINCT.:)

Some of you "Bog Bois" are really just big TARDS!I have been with all the cell phone carriers. Verizon, AT&T/Cingular and Sprint twice. Fact is they all suck! As for more bars in more places, well that is stupid seeing as how none of the carriers charge for roaming anymore (on newer good plans) so the cell towers don't care who your provider is. In addition, I am moving from a Palm 755P to the Instinct and I am quite excited about it. I love my Palm but it is time to move up to better technology. I have a friend who has an Iphone and baid several hundred dollars for it and he can't even get a picture message for crying out loud! I personally feel that more bars is not worth the loss of modern technology. Also, I have the Unlimited everything plan with Sprint. I pay $99 per month as well and my coverage never fails. I even have coverage in the elevator of the Columbia Tower in downtown Seattle which is something I never had with AT&T. Seriously guys, it doesn't matter who your carrier is. What matters is will your phone do what you want it to do. Frankly, I would have loved it if rather then bashing carriers you all would have talked a little more about the features of the phones in comparison. From what I hear, I phone sucks! The only thing cool about it is the way it looks. None of my friends or colleagues who have had one have enjoyed anything past its appearance. With that said, it makes sense that the other companies are copying the style as most I Phone owners bought their phones because it looked different and not because of what it could do. It was a status purchase and nothing more. At least the Instinct from Samsung was smart enough to capitalize on the looks/status issue and then make it a better bang for our buck by adding features the I Phone cant seem to produce!
