Palm intros Centro, low-cost smartphone

Palm CEO Ed Colligan together with Sprint Nextel yesterday introduced the Palm Centro, a new low-cost touchscreen smartphone.
The Centro runs on Palm OS 5.4.9 and it features a 2.2" 65k color TFT LCD touchscreen, 320x320 pixels), 1.3 megapixel camera, video capture and playback, POP/IMAP/SMTP, QWERTY keyboard, speakerphone, browser, 64MB of memory, microSD card slot and Bluetooth 1.2.
The Palm Centro will start shipping for Sprint in about 2 weeks on October 14 in either black or red versions for $99 after a $100 mail-in rebate and a 2-year contract.
