Apple phone to be/not be called the iMobile
26 Dec 2006 | Apple , Rumors | 4 comments
After some unconfirmed rumors last week saying that the Apple phone will be called "iMobile" (actually this was just made up by a bunch of kids who read the news about the iPhone name already being taken) a second source comes out to tell us the obvious: the iMobile name is also taken.
So what should we expect? I think it's time for Apple to drop the whole iProduct thing. All the good names already belong to someone else, so it should start thinking of new alternatives. MacPhone is pretty nice, even though it sounds like "something I'd order at McDonald's with a side of MacNuggets", according to one of our readers. Anyway, MacWorld is right around the corner. Wait for it! And no more rumors please!

Apple and McDonald's team up to bring you the ... McPhone! Just $399! rofl
Perhaps there is a user friendly, intuitive, mac-like UI in our future.Intrigued to see how this compares with what various other mobile device manufacturers, software providers and operators - deal with interface issues e.g Qualcomm’s mOne, Verizon’s Get it Now!or even Cingular’s MediaNet
Apple is known for their ease-of-use and intuitive interface. That's why iPods dominate. But phone GUI is a bit tricker than a music device. I'm interested to see how they're tackling the "not iPhone" interface issue. Given today's small screen's, it is a problem of design.
Amen to that! From a user perspective, the question is does the 'clever' UI and added features make the phone friendlier to use... and when does it just add complexity and alienate the heck out of me. The old KISS mantra...keep it simple stupid. Loved the iPod and believe that it was successful because it was a single purpose device. The phone is much more complex. Can't wait to see how Apple finds a balance between UI and features and services and size
