Survey shows that text messaging improves parent-child communication

It may sound weird, but it's true. According to recent Cingular survey, 63% of parents who use text messaging believe that it improves their communication with their children. Also, 65% of parents who text message say they communicate more frequently with their children when they are away from home and 64% said that texting made their kids easier to reach.

And here comes the weird part: 69% of parents who text said they use text jargon, such as "R U Home" or "BGood" when communicating with their kids via text messaging. This shows once again the impact that MySpace is having over parents.

The survey was conducted online by Mediathink during the week of August 14, 2006 and surveyed 1,175 parents.

My sister and I were talking about this, and she said that it is really easy to communicate with her teenage son via text message. Every time I see them talking face to face, they're fighting, so yes, SMS can help build a wall between parents and children, but in a good way :)

Myspace did not cause the "texting lingo". AOL first published these short sayings so their consumers could use them during Instant Message conversations. Soon, these sayings would become popular over all internet interactions, and text messages.

Myspace has merely been an internet frenzy that leads people to blame the social networking website for many different (and some ridiculous) ideas.
