UMA enabled Nokia 6136 to be launched by T-Mobile

26 Aug 2006 | Rumors , Samsung , T-Mobile | 3 comments

As you probably know, T-Mobile is getting ready to launch their UMA (Unlicensed Mobile Access) network in September. Initial rumors said that the Samsung T709 will be the only handset offered at launch. It seems that T-Mobile has come to its senses, so it will also be launching the Nokia 6136 UMA enabled phone, that was announced at the 3GSM 2006 back in February.

The quadband Nokia 6136 will include a large 262.000 color internal display, a 1.3 megapixel camera with 8x digital zoom, digital music player, built-in FM radio, removable microSD memory card. The 6136 also includes a new DARP (Downlink Advanced Receiver Performance) radio receiver, which enhances the radio performance of the device. DARP increases the operator network capacity by 40-70 per cent and brings improved voice quality.

Finally! T-Mobile makes a correct move. The Samsung T709 SUCKS. I really can't say much about it.

I understand that the T709 wasn't really the best choice. But what made T-Mobile change its mind? There must be something more to this.

They simply cannot be this smart and intuitive.
