Motorola Q to launch next week

Finally, after months of delays and promises, Motorola President and Chief Executive Officer Ed Zander himself announced that the Motorola Q will be launching next week. Last month, rumors said that the Q will be launching on May 22, which we never expected to be true.
The ultra thin Motorola Q was announced back in July 2005 and features a large, 2.4" color screen, voice activated dialing, a 1.3 megapixel camera with photo lighting, mp3 and video capabilities, stereo speakers web surfing capability and a QWERTY keyboard. All this on will run on Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system.
The Q will come out for EV-DO, which means that Verizon Wireless and Sprint Nextel will be the first ones to grab it. It should be available for UMTS and possibly HSDPA by the end of the year. According to last week's rumors, the price of the Motorola Q will supposedly be $349.99 with a 1 year contract, $299.99 with a 2 year contract and $419.99 with no contract.
Now it's time to sit back and see what the Q will do to its competitors, the Nokia E61, Palm Treo 700p and especially the Blackberry phones. Let the battle begin.
