The iPod phone to arrive soon?

Inside sources over at BenQ are saying that some Apple executives have been talking to a few Taiwanese phone makers during the past few months in an effort to cut a deal on manufacturing an iPod Phone.

BenQ said: "An iPod phone is definitely coming. BenQ will not be making it as we are in competition with Apple however several of our suppliers have been approached to manufacture parts. Among manufacturers in Taiwan it is common knowledge. The issue for many is the availability of parts if the phone takes off".

Bill Shope of J.P Morgan thinks that Apple will introduce a phone by the fourth quarter of this year and that there is a 75% chance we'll see an iPhone in the next 12 months.

We love a good rumor, so we are really hoping that this thing will fall through. We're no Apple fans or anything, but new and powerful players like this company could give a serious headache to the top mobile phone manufacturers, especially Motorola, on which, according to analysts, this will have the biggest impact.

I hope it does happen. the mobile industry needs more competitors, especially ones like Apple.
