Sony Ericsson W950i UMTS Walkman phone announced

Sony Ericsson decided to expand the Walkman family line-up at 3GSM, with their newest addition, the Sony Ericsson W950i. The W950i is an ultra-slim UMTS phone with an amazing 4GB of storage and touch screen for simple navigation through music genres, playlists, individual songs or music albums.
Features of the Sony Ericsson W950i include a 262.000 color QVGA touch screen, Symbian v9.1 on the UIQ 3.0 platform, MP3, AAC, AAC+, E-AAC+, WAV and m4a support, 4 GB flash memory which can store about 4.000 songs, FM radio with RDS, Opera 8.0 browser, Bluetooth 1.2, Infrared port and USB 2.0.
The dual mode UMTS 2100 GSM/GPRS 900/1800/1900 Sony Ericsson W950i will start shipping in Q3 2006 everywhere, but the United States.

do you really take a phone cause of its camera? thats low imo ;D the digital camera's are way better quality anyway..
The thing about the cell phone cameras is that you always have it with you...unlike the digital camera.
So that the W950i doesn't have a camera for stills and video is a real bummer. :(
yes, it's not about the camera itself, but having it around is really important, more important than quality, i guess

its awsome i dont need an i-pod anymore . talkin about camera well ive got a sony k-790i 3.2 mega pixel .. i can anytime transfer my pics to my w-950i.. hehehe..

why doesn't this phone have a camera?? I was going to buy it but, I saw there was no camera so this phone it useless. Sorry Sony try again with this phone (hint** add a camera)
Nobody complains about the iPod not having a camera? This is like an iPod with phone functions, not a digital camera with phone functions. Notice the in-built 4GB storage. It's a trade-off using the space of the camera for flash memory chips. If you want a camera, look at the Cybershot line of SE phones, not the Walkman phones.
I agree with 'complainers'. If you want to have an MP3 player than can phone your mates then this is the shizzle you need. Waiting for mine to come through and will be using my soon-to-be-old Samsung E770 for camera and video purposes. Not that I really used it before... XD
I was really excited about this phone but when I realize that it doesn't have a camera a got really disappointed. I was ready to pay a price, but now, sorry NO. Please don't compare iPods and cell phones. Those are two different things. Not having a cam or mp3 player in the phone in 2007 is lame. I know 4GB is a lot but look at the price tag!

Yeah, I was planning on buying this phone, but since it has no camera, thats a real bummer, If Sony had putted a camera in it it would have been a big hit, and it would've probably beat the Iphone. If I were you guys, just buy the Sony Ericsson 810i, Its a walkman, camera *2.0 megapixel* and it has an external memory which is good.

now a days a phone has to be all around, yes i know that this phone is meant more for music and functionality but with the mobile phone industry booming it wouldn't hurt to have a built in camera. this phone is still incredible, worth getting. just pointing out we do have the technology to incorperate touch screen technology along side with music and camera compatability while keeping phones looking sleek. cell phones will be more important than having computers in a not too distant future.
Not having a camera is a shame. It is similar to Nokia N95 in many ways, with the obvious bonus of the SE battery life far better than Nokia. However, the Nokia can only have up to 2Gb memory card (altho u can have spares of these) but it does have a 5mega pixel carl zeissman lens phone, gprs, Simbian etc etc etc. Not touch screen, but is that that necessary.
I think we need to watch this space. SE are the best now, much more classy than Nokia but there's not much in it.
These phones will be quite the norm in a year - don't you think?
I love d sony ericsson phone classy and stylish it is a phone to behold well done sony ericsson u are d best in d market i think it is only a matter of time before d world knows u are better than nokia
