Research In Motion shares went up on Monday after recent court decisions were seen strengthening the BlackBerry maker's position in its legal battle against NTP.

RIM's stock rose 2.8 percent, $1.77 to $64.45 on volume of more than 4.4 million shares. In Toronto, it climbed C$3.35 to C$75.10.

RIM and NTP have been involved in a patent infringement case for more than four years. The two companies have come to a $450 million settlement which has been denied by a US judge earlier this month.
