Nokia third quarter results

Nokia today announced its earnings for the third quarter of 2005. Net sales increased to EUR 8.4 billion by 18 percent, compared to EUR 7.1 billion in same period last year. Nokia's operating profit grew 19% year on year to EUR 1.1 billion versus EUR 969 million in the third quarter 2004. Nokia's third quarter 2005 operating margin was 13.7 percent.
Operating cash flow for the third quarter 2005 was EUR 1.2 billion, compared with EUR 510 million for the second quarter 2005, and total combined cash and other liquid assets were EUR 11.0 billion, compared with EUR 11.2 billion at June 30, 2005.
In this quarter, Nokia shipped 66.6 million mobile devices, which represents a 29.5 percent year-on-year growth and 9.5 percent sequential growth. Motorola was only able to ship 38.7 million units, which was also a record for the company.
