Bill GatesYesterday, at Microsoft Mobile & Embedded DevCon 2005, an annual event organised by Microsoft, Bill Gates announced the release of Windows Mobile 5.0. Apparently, Microsoft has decided to drop the "2005" from its title for unknown reasons.

Anyway, this version of the Windows Mobile will include support for wireless data networks, including 3G and WiFi data for the smartphone devices and support for QWERTY keyboard. It will also allow carriers and manufacturers to add new features to the system, such as PTT (Push-To-Talk) or video conference. Another feature includes the Windows Media Player 10 Mobile.

"In the past five years, there's been a profound shift in the kind of data and services people access on their mobile devices - from multimedia to business applications. Windows Mobile 5.0 enables our industry partners to develop exciting new hardware designs and solutions that will revolutionize how customers use mobile devices," said Bill Gates.
