Sony Ericsson, the 6th largest mobile phone manufacturer reported a 61% drop in the first quarter of 2005. Their total earnings in these 3 months was $41 million (32 million Euros), down from $105 million (82 million Euros). 9.4 million mobile phones were shipped, meaning a 7% increase compared to the same period last year.

During the first quarter of 2005, Sony Ericsson has announced a large number of mobile phones, including two new 3G UMTS phones, the company's first 2 megapixel auto focus camera phones and a new Walkman music phone. Other Sony Ericsson products will be out in the second and third quarter of this year.
