Ericsson Sues Sendo

Ericsson has filed a lawsuit in three countries (Britain, Germany and the Netherlands) against the Sendo mobile phone company for an alleged patent infringement. They claim Sendo is using patented GSM and GPRS technologies without a license.
"We believe that Sendo is using Ericsson patented technology, but they have so far not signed a license agreement with Ericsson. Under these circumstances we have no choice but to take Sendo to court. Basically, all we ask is that companies who use technology invented by Ericsson compensate us for this, the same way we are prepared to compensate others for our use of their technology", said company spokesman Kasim Alfalahi.
Ericsson also seeks a ruling to suspend the sale and marketing of Sendo's GSM mobile phones. They also say that Sendo has not signed a licence agreement with them for use of their technology.
Most companies which sell GSM and GPRS phones have license deals with Ericsson, the patent holders for GSM and GPRS technology. Sendo announced the X2 last month at 3GSM.
